Golden Book of Crafts and Hobbies, part 1 (front cover, title page through page 7)

front cover

My copy of this book, which I bought at auction several years ago, is badly mildewed (to the degree that I can't flip through it without heavily dosing myself on antihistamines and other allergy meds), so I took a few days when I could work with windows open, scanned the pages, and will be posting them in (I hope) proper numeric order.

Some projects would be frowned upon, these days, but the book has some intriguing insights into what was expected of, for example, a good scout around the time I was born.

Note that this book was the size of a standard notepad (8" x 11") and cost a grand whopping $1.99 when it was first released. I think I paid about the same when I bought it, about 50 years later.

I own a hardback copy of this book

Some guy named Leroy used to own this hardback, but I own it now, since I bought it at auction. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yes. Well. About this book.
